You’ve probably heard the saying,
“Eat your carrots…
they are good for your eyes!”
While that may be true y’all, there’s something else that’s also good for your eyes…vision insurance!
You may be thinking:
Well, for starters to maintain that great eyesight of yours you should be having annual eye exams. Vision coverage partially pays for exams and glasses or contacts.
Your general practitioner may not spot the signs of a serious eye condition like Glaucoma during a routine physical. That’s what an optometrist or opthamologist is for!
Early detection is KEY to preventing vision loss!
Now, if you do wear contacts or glasses…
You already know how important it is to have the peace of mind of vision coverage.
You’re probably wondering:
- Wait a minute, I have health insurance so aren’t I already covered for routine vision exams?
- What about Medicare and Obamacare? Do they include vision coverage?
Unfortunately, Medicare DOES NOT cover routine eye exams, glasses or contacts.
However, Medicare (Part B) will pay for:
- Cataract surgery
- One pair of glasses or contacts following cataract surgery
- Yearly glaucoma tests for people at high risk
- Yearly eye exams for people with diabetes
If you don’t fall into one of these categories?
You can still get vision coverage!
I will help you find a Medicare Advantage Plan that covers the vision services you need!
WHAT ABOUT OBAMACARE & VISION INSURANCE?
The Affordable Care Act or Obamacare DOES NOT provide vision coverage for adults.
However, Qualified Health Plans sold on the Marketplace DO include pediatric vision coverage.
So, eye exams and glasses for kids are covered.
You can purchase a Stand-Alone Vision Plan from companies that are not able to offer their coverage through the state insurance exchange marketplace.
Y’all, I know this may seem confusing…
but that is what I am here for!
I will help you sort it all out and choose the vision coverage that’s best for you!
